Six Things We Do Differently

These are not marketing promises. They are the practices that regular clients notice and mention.

Assess First, Work Second

No work starts without a full assessment. You know what we found and what the job involves before any tools come out.

Written Reports as Standard

Every service comes with a written condition report. Most workshops in Bangkok do not provide these at all.

You Talk to the Watchmaker

There is no reception counter handling enquiries from someone who has not seen your watch. You speak directly with the person doing the work.

Period-Appropriate Components

For vintage and heritage work, we source parts that match the era of the watch — not whatever is simplest to obtain.

Timegrapher Testing

All serviced movements are tested on a timegrapher across multiple positions. We share the results with you before collection.

No Unexplained Delays

If timelines change, we tell you why and when to expect resolution — not after you follow up, but proactively.

What Each Benefit Means in Practice

Professional Expertise

The team at Wela Mongkol has combined experience of over forty years in mechanical watchmaking. Founder Anan Charoenphan trained with Swiss calibres and spent twelve years specialising in restoration before opening the Sukhumvit workshop. This depth of experience means the team recognises unusual movements, understands historical manufacturing tolerances, and can source obscure components through established trade channels.

  • Competent with Swiss, Japanese, and European movements
  • Experience with vintage pocket watches and wristwatches
  • Access to specialist parts suppliers internationally

Equipment in Use

  • Multi-stage ultrasonic cleaner
  • Timegrapher for rate testing
  • Pressure gauge for water-resistance
  • Stereo microscope for hairspring work

Workshop Equipment

Careful hands matter, but so do proper tools. Wela Mongkol uses equipment that would be found in a professional service centre — not improvised solutions. The ultrasonic cleaner handles components across four stages with specific solutions for each material. The timegrapher measures rate and amplitude across multiple positions, giving an objective picture of movement health that cannot be assessed by feel alone.

This equipment is used for every service — not reserved for premium-tier work. We believe the quality of the process should not vary depending on what a watch cost new.

Communication & Service Quality

When a watch is left in someone's care for two weeks, the owner should not have to wonder what is happening. At Wela Mongkol, the intake process establishes clear expectations: what will be done, what it costs, and when it will be ready. If the situation changes — a part takes longer than expected, or an additional issue is discovered — we contact you before proceeding.

  • Direct contact with the working watchmaker
  • Updates on scope or timeline changes before they affect you
  • Written intake note for every watch received

"No work begins without your agreement on scope and cost."

This is the simplest version of our service commitment. It means you will never collect a watch to find unexpected charges or undiscussed repairs added to the invoice.

What You Receive

  • Full disassembly and multi-stage cleaning
  • New lubricants throughout the movement
  • Timegrapher test results
  • Written condition report
  • Direct discussion of any concerns found

Clear, Transparent Pricing

Service prices start from ฿2,490 for mechanical movement servicing. This covers the full process — disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, regulation, and written report — not a subset of it. There are no hidden add-ons for the report or for timegrapher testing. These are part of what the service means here.

For crystal and case work, pricing starts from ฿5,200. Heritage restoration is scoped individually, with the full cost agreed before we begin.

Unique to This Workshop

What You Will Not Find Elsewhere

The Documentation Archive

Heritage restoration clients receive a full photographic and written record of their watch's condition at each stage. This documentation stays with the owner and becomes part of the watch's provenance.

No-Obligation Consultations

You can bring your watch in for an initial assessment with no commitment to proceed. We will tell you what we find, what we would suggest, and what it would cost. The decision is entirely yours.

Scope-Agreed Heritage Projects

For complex or inherited watches, we establish an agreed scope in writing before beginning. Changes require your approval. No heritage project grows without your knowledge.

Focused Specialisation

We do not repair phones, jewellery, or quartz movements alongside mechanical watches. Our focus stays narrow so our knowledge stays deep — one category of work, done well.
